What Does Heavy Vaginal Bleeding During 24 Weeks Of Pregnancy Suggest?

I am 24 weeks pregnant, and have been having bleeding since 13 weeks. I had a subchorionic hematoma, 4 cm, but it was not visible on last ultrasound. The bleeding has been heavy some days, light others. I have been checked every time the bleeding increased and the baby was always fine. I don t have cramping. The bleeding has increased again tonight and it is very thin. Do I need to go to the ER? It s too late to go to the doctor, and I feel ok but worried I am leaking amniotic fluid mixed with blood? It s been about a pad and hour. Im lying down, it flows out when I stand up or urinate.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suspected placental abruption. Based on the history you seem to have developed symptoms suggestive of premature separation of the placenta from the uterus (placental abruption). I advise you to go the emergency department of your nearby hospital immediately for further clinical evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
