General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The presence of bleeding in early pregnancy does not affect a baby's ability to think and reason and it is not associated with a physical handicap either.

It can occur in some women in early pregnancy and not have any consequences at all. Unfortunately, in a very few women, it can eventually be associated with a miscarriage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
