Hi Doctor, my xray films finding persistent Stable left upper thick band Fibrosis with hilar traction...Rest of the lungs are clear..Heart, costophrenic sulci and other osseous structures are intact..i have history of mininimal PTB and already treated..just have a check-up..What is hilar traction?
Hilar traction is due to fibrotic bands connecting upper lobe to hilum.Fibrosis develops as a sequel of infection.Infection normally heals by fibrosis and calcification.Fibrosis causes upward pull of hilum if it is develops in hilar region connecting to the upper lobe.It is a benign finding and doesn't require any treatment.Fibrosis develops in your lung due to past history of T.B.
Rest of the lung fields are normal.Heart,CP angles and bony structure are also normal.
Hope i have answered your query. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
