What Does 'increase In My WBCs (10.9), Neutrophils (72.3%)'mean?
Hi. I am having an intermittent fever for three days now and I started manifesting rashes on my chest area. My CBC result showed an increase in my WBCs (10.9), Neutrophils (72.3%), and Monocytes (17.6%); a decrease in my Lymphocytes (9.9%). I was suspecting of Dengue fever, however my platelet count is still within the normal range. I would like to know what these findings may imply. Thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The symptoms of fever, rash on the body and increase in white blood cell count suggests an infection. An increase in neutrophil counts are seen in bacterial infections. There is increase in monocyte count also. Monocyte counts are seen in chronic infections. However, the symptoms of fever, rash and raised white blood cell counts and increase in neutrophils are suggestive of an acute infection most probably bacterial infection. You need to consult your doctor for prescription of antibiotic drugs.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
