What Does Infiltration Showed In Chest X-ray Means?

My 5 year old boy had a chest X-ray on Monday that showed pneumonia in the upper right lobe. On Tuesday he was admitted to the hospital and a repeat X-ray was done, the nurse told me the X-ray showed infiltration a not pneumonia? What does that mean?

Hi,
Pneumonia is lung infection and is due to bacteria in most cases. Lung infiltrates can be due to pneumonia or lung conditions like pulmonary edema or silicosis, asbestosis and cystic fibrosis which often cause the air sacs or alveoli to fill with fluids comprised of white blood cells, cancer cells, pus, proteins or blood.
