I have a large red swollen area on my butt. It started this past friday in the middle of the night but only got really bad yesterday, it was the size of quarter then 50 cent piece and now it has gotten as large as my palm I can t even sit or lay on it it is hot to the touch so I put a cold rag on it but only get temporary relief my husband keeps telling me its a boil and to put a hot compress to bring it to a head. But I really don t know what to think and am wondering if I should just go to the hospital

Yes , you should see a surgeon immediately. The symptoms seem to be a possible ischiorectal abscess. Which spreads internally to form a fistula. So needs immediate drainage and antibiotics. If you have constipation you need mild laxative more fibers and water in the diet. Anti-inflammatory pill over the counter like Ibuprofen after food would relieve pain and swell to some extent. Do not foment unless advised by the expert.
