What Does Irregular 9mm And 8mm Hypoechoic Lesions Indicate?
I m a 56 year old female with a past HX of cervical cancer, partially removed and had a D&C about 3 years ago. I ve had severe lower abdominal pain. A vaginal Ultra sound was done. Impression on report is irregular 9mm and 8mm hypoechoic lesions - possibly fibroids are also suggested - submucosal in location near fundus. Given atypical appearance, an MRI of pelvis is needed. Based on the irregular and atypical verbage what is your thoughts? I ve been called to schedule a CT with contrast and an MRI stat for th is.
Hello, 1. U need to do these scans due to your reviews history of cervical cancer. If it is in fun dal region it is unlikely that they are related to ur previous problem. But it is important to get these scans to prevent any bad outcome. 2. According to the information you have given , in my opinion u need either CT or MRI with contrast to Confirm whether they are fibroids or not. 3. After your scan if they are fibroids and u have heavy bleeding only then u need to worry. Otherwise u can leave it for now. But u should rescan after 3 to 4 months to see if there is increase in size. 4. If on these scan they are not fibroids I suggest u to undergo biopsy to Confirm the type of lesion and to decide on further steps. Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if you have any queries. Thank you
