Hello dear,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Healthcare Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern.
Actually there doesn't exist a blood test named liver count. The value you are reporting could be one of liver enzymes, which include AST(Aspartate transaminase), ALT(
Alanine transaminase) or GGT(Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase).
Increased liver enzyme level means that the liver is having an inflammation, or differently called hepatitis. When there is a damage on liver cells, they break down their membrane and spilt their enzymes in the blood. There are different causes of hepatitis, including alcoholism, viral infections like hepatitis A virus,
hepatitis B virus (HBV),
hepatitis C virus (HCV), different drug use including
paracetamol etc.
Since you mentioned that your boyfriend is a drinker, the most probable culprit might be
alcohol abuse, and the liver enzymes are elevated due to Alcoholic hepatitis (severe liver inflammation caused by excessive alcohol consumption).
Hope I helped with my answer. For further concerns or follow up questions, feel free to ask again.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Ina
