What Does Mild Prostatomegaly(size-3.1*4.1*3.3cm, Vol.-22cc Indicate?
my brother has mild prostatomegaly(size-3.1*4.1*3.3cm, vol.-22cc),PVRU-22CC, with mild hepatomegaly with fatty infiltration, mild cystitis. he is a diabetic one. does he required operation for his prost. problem? can we depend on medicinal treatment. he is now 39. no issue after 4 yrs. of marriage.
Hi, Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic. Mild prostatomegaly means slightly enlarged prostate. There are no definite guidelines for size of prostate and in our institution upto 25 cc is considered normal. The important thing is the symptoms. Whether he is having problems in passing urine or not, any increased frequency of micturition? Prostate size is not related to infertility so it does not cause any problems related to infertility. Even if he is having any symptoms, he will be treated medically for it. There is no need for surgery for prostate. Mild hepatomegaly and fatty infiltration is also nothing to worry. For his infertility problem, he needs to get a semen analysis done and his wife should also be evaluated by ultrasound/hsg/hormonal assessment. If there is any problem, it should be treated accordingly. Hope it sorts your problem. Regards, Dr. Pankaj Nagori Specialist Radiologist
