What Does Mucus Thread As + Indicate?
Dear Doctor,
My son is of 18 months now and he was not well for last few days ( He was suffering from viral fever). We consulted the doctor and now he is ok but for last few days he use to cry while urinating and we were just suspicious and done a routine urine check up. The report shows all normal except " mucus thread as +"
We are worried about this mucus thread. Could you please let us know if this is serious issue and what we need to do?

Mucus threads in urine is a normal finding.
Mucus threads have no clinical significance since they come from the terminal urethra. This is a common finding in urine since the entire urine system is filled with mucus.
Your son need proper clinical examination and further investigations.
Ultrasound of abdomen should be done to find out the exact cause.It is very helpful in screening.
Treatment depend upon findings.
