I had a cat scan that showed thinning of the left middle fossa ans a prominent arachnoid granulation which scallops the inner table of the adjacent squamous temporal bone. I was then ordered to have an mri which showed no mass however, there is mild involutional change of the cerebellum, greater than expected for an individual of my age. Prior to these 2 tests, I had 2 traumas to the head, neck and back.
According to report, you have mild atrophic changes in cerebellum. It may be related to trauma. You need clinical correlation and follow up to see progression.
Thinning of the left middle fossa and scalloping of the inner table of the adjacent squamous temporal bone is due to arachnoid granulations.Arachnoid granulations causes thinning and scalloping of bones and it doesn't require any treatment. This is a benign finding.
