What Does My CT Scan Report Suggest?

Hi, I did a CT scan last week for my spine/cervical. The findings of the report also indicated that I have a Heterogeneous Thyroid Gland Parenchyma with occasional focal calcification. Ultrasound was suggested. Can you please tell me what this means or what I may have? Thankyou

Hi,
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic.
CT Scan for the spine is for evaluation of the vertebrae and the posterior elements. Thyroid findings will be an incidental finding in the CT scan. CT is not very good in characterizing small lesions of the thyroid. USG is very good for imaging of small thyroid lesions. If there are calcifications within thyroid it means there are few nodules within the gland and most likely you have multinodular goitre. It is enlargement of the thyroid gland with few benign nodules in the parenchyma. It maybe asymptomatic in many patients, so you would not know about it. You should get an USG done for proper evaluation of the thyroid lesions.
Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery.
