Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a MRI Arthogram done and I got the report back and it says there is a mild encroachment of the undersurface of the anterior, superior left labrum by contrast material with mild irregularity of the labrum. Then on the next page under impression it says undersurface fraying of the anterior, superior left labrum. Now I have looked online but I still can t understand, I was wondering if someone could explain not in medical terms so I could understand and what would be the best course of action to fix this?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The MRI describes certain findings in cartilage called labrum in a joint, however, the site of the labrum is not mentioned whether the labrum is in hip joint or shoulder joint. Labrum is the cartilage which is responsible for formation of grip between ball of one bone and socket of another. The largest ball and socket joints of body are hip and shoulder joints. Smaller ball and socket joints are also present besides these two. The MRI shows irregularity and fraying of labrum. These changes suggest degenerative change in the labrum. These findings need to be correlated with clinical findings to know their significance. I suggest you to consult your referring doctor for clinical correlation of the report.
