Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, can you help me understand what my MRI report means. So I just received my report today, from an MRI I had in Friday. On the top of the page it says Indication: Chiari Malformation. My question is, when they say indication do they mean they were given a reason from the scan to believe I have Chiari Malformation? Or?
Based on the history you have shared, it means some part of the brain and that is on the lowermost area tends to come out of the slit in the skull into spinal cord area.
Sometimes it means it has to be corrected surgically if it is causing any neurological deficit or any suspected danger of brain stem malfunctioning or even if raised intracranial pressures are being experienced as well. Neurosurgeon review with films is needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
