56YO female with many years of peripheral neuropathy, mainly in feet. New symptom of burning. MRI ordered to r/o MS. Findings: Mild bifrontal lobe volume loss, more than expected for patient s age. Increased T2 signal at the caudal septal interface without ovoid lesion in a perivenule distribution. No definite T2 signal abnormality within the optic nerves, through the right optic nerve may be slightly attenuated. No evidence of significant white matter change to suggest demyelinating process.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The MRI does not show any evidence of white matter disease. Thus the possibility of multiple sclerosis is ruled out for now. The MRI may be repeated if there are any symptoms of multiple sclerosis in future.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
