What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?

Hello, my husband was having issues with a goose egg size lump just under his left side lower rib. Went to the dr and had X-ray and MRI and was told he had a broken rib. We are not sure how he broke it but was waiting for the MRI results. He got a call saying they need him to come in tomorrow for a cat scan. Radiologist saw something .. a mass or something coming out of the ribs or pushing out to break rib. Not sure what could that be? Could sneezing , coughing or using a foam roller cause this?

It can be a Spiegel hernia that can be related with sneezing and coughing, but from what you have described, your husband has a pathologic rib fructure so it is not likely to be e Spiegel hernia. A pathologic rib fracture has many causes, some of them are benign (benign bone tumores, deseases related with calcium metabolism etc..) some are malignant deseases (bone primary tumors, bone metastasis etc..).
