I am a female aged 81 with diabetes for the past 40 years(type 2). I take an oral med and 24 units of insulin a day. I have found through a blood test that I had chicken pox as a child. My doctor wants me to have the shingle shot but am hesitant due to my health issues. I have had 2 heart attacks; my MRI shows I had two mini strokes; blood pressure meds; cholestrol meds and need to lose weight, at least 20lbs. Would this shot have any side effects for me ?
Thank you for asking this question. Let me assure you that taking shingle shot will not harm you. Shingle usually happens to adults who had chicken pox as children. If you take the shot it will improve your immunity making you protected against shingle.
