I had a stroke in 2012 that was directly caused by srangulation and my recent mri shows I had a left hemisphere stroke with encephalomalacia with surrounding gliosis where lexicons are formed and where interesting neural behavioral have disorders so can u please explain wat that means?
Hello I read your query and I understand your concern.
The MRI report fortunately doesn't show any new damage to your brain. It shows the remains of your prior stroke which leaves encephalomalacia and gliosis, to make a comparison it's like when you wound your skin it can leave a scar, the same way a stroke especially a big one leaves its "scar" in the brain which is called encephalomalacia. Since I suppose you already knew that there is nothing to worry about. The second part of the report addresses the areas involved, the brain has different areas performing different functions, in this case the areas dealing with language and behavior. That doesn't automatically mean those functions are lost because unaffected areas can compensate and take over part of those functions, so the MRI is not as important and telling as your actual condition. Hope to have reassured you enough. Feel free to ask further questions.
