Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my son plays baseball and his recent MRI show a high grade fluid filled tear of the pronator common flexor tendons include the anterior and mid substance fibers. A probable partial tear of the Anterior, Traverse and Posterior bands of the MCL. and fracture at the growth plate (salter 1) and mild inflammation of the Ulnar nerve. We have an apt with the ortho doc on the 17th but are wondering what this all means and what will be the most likely treatment; rest/rehab or surgery. Also he is playing football so should he stop immideately or can he play since he s able to tolerate the pain?
* The MRI report is indicative of severe injury of medial collateral ligament of the knee joint giving balance to various acts of knee functioning.
* The usual course of management includes
- initial trial of anti inflammatory medicines to help resolve the tissue edema and inflammation
- rest to the part
- avoid contact sports as football, which raise the chances of repeat injury as well as worsening of current condition as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
