What Does My MRI Scan Test Report Indicate?

Consistently having pain in r side of my neck and lower back so had a MR Cervical Spine without Contrast with the following impression from the reading of the test. What would treatment options be: Findings: There is a slight increased T2 signal centrally within the pons. The imaged portions of the brain and posterior fossa otherwise unremarkable with no Chiari malformation. Impression: multilevel spondylosis most significant at C3-C4 through C5-C6. Potential impingement upon both C4, C5, and C6 nerve roots as well as mass effect upon the cord at these levels. No abnormal signal within the cord to suggest cord edema or myelomalacia. Probably microvascular chronic ischemic change affecting the central pons. Severe facet arthropathy but no subluxation to suggest instability. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the report suggests severe cervical spondylosis and probably caused by arthropathy or abnormal bone resorption.

Treatment options range from medical with analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen to nerve pain suppressants like Gabapentin etc. Supplements for calcium D3 and Ossein mineral complexes can be used.

If symptoms persist, the neurosurgeon can be consulted for surgical options and to relieve pressure off the nerve root compression.

The changes in pons are not significant if no clinical signs present related to that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
