What Does My TSH Number Indicate?

I have been on thyroid medication for hypo for approximately 20 years. My TSH has risen from 2.5 to 4.8 in six months. I am still in the normal range but starting to get symptoms such as feeling cold, fatigue, weight gain, higher cholesterol. I struggle to stay awake all afternoon even after 8-10 hours of sleep at night. Is it o.k. To increase my dose of Synthroid even though the numbers are still in the normal range.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As long as your TSH is within normal range there is nothing to worry. The symptoms that you are having could be due to some other issue. Please get a thorough evaluation done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Haleema Yezdani, General & Family Physician
