Hello Doctor, During normal health check up my USG report shows as follows:- 1. Gall Bladder - Distended measures 127x49 mm. Gallbladdr wall is thickened. A big calculus of 19 mm is noted at neck of gallbladder wall. No SOL is noted. 2. Liver - It is mildly enlarged in size (148mm). Diffusely hyperechoic. No focal parenchymal lesion is seen. Biliary radicles are not seen dilated. The portal vein measures 10mm in diamerer.
please suggest what does GB wall thickend and SOL. Is it any serious problem? Should i do surgery immidiately? I have heard that i may cause cancer too. I had never felt any problem or any pain ever in my abdoman.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of ultrasound abdomen is: 1. The gall bladder consists of a stone. Presence of stone causes thickening of the bladder wall. Bladder wall thickening is due to inflammation caused by presence of stone in the lumen. SOL stands for space occupying lesion, in simple words it is a mass grothe most probably a cancerous lesion. There is no evidence of such lesion in the gall bladder. The management of gall bladder stones is surgical removal of the gall bladder with stones. Inflammation in the bladder wall can result in malignancy in future so surgical removal is mandatory. 2. The liver is within normal limits.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
