What Does My Biopsy Report Indicate?

Yes I m so worried. My brother is 68 years old and while shaving discovered the lump in his neck. We are waiting on needle biopsy results. It will be 2 wks This Mon. And they said it takes 2-3 weeks for results. He had prostrate cancer about 15 years ago. Can that be related? What is the cure rate if it s Ca? We are sick waiting. How likely can it be benign.. I m praying hard for him

Hello, thanks for asking on healthcaremagic. It is unlikely for prostate cancer to metastasize to neck nodes. Mostly it goes to the spine. An enlarged neck node could range from a benign non specific reactive node to malignant metastasis. Others could be bacterial infection or lymphoma. Mostly small, discrete, mobile and soft nodes are benign and large, hard, immobile, matted nodes suggest malignancy. But final answer always comes from the pathological biopsy/fnac report. Kindly wait for it. Thanks.
