What Does My Following MRI Indicate?

hi, please tell me what the following mean!!! This is causing me a lot of pain.

Coronal T1-W, sagittal and axial T1- and T2-W and sagittal STIR images of the lumbosactral spine show the following.

There is a posterocentral right placentral disk protrusion with a T2W high intensity zone in its annulus, in the right side of the L5-S1 level, indenting on the ventral thecal sac. There is abutment of the right descending S1 nerve root . Decreased hydration signal is noted at the L5-S1 disc. There is no other localized extra- or intradural defects.

What does this mean??? Thank you.

Welcome to Health care magic.

Coronal, axial, sagittal are different views to see the pathology ( problem) (anteriorly, side way, up to down in common language) Stir,T1,T2 are sequences in which structures are better visualised.

Disk is present between the vertebral body causing the shock-absorber function in weight bearing, this disc contains good % of water - when this water content is lost the disk starts slipping / herniating out ( age related degenerative cause and traumatic cause, excessive usage).

in your case the disc has slipped backwards and causing pressure effect on the spinal chord at L5-S1, compressing on nerve at S1 level and disc disease noted at the level L5-S1. Exercise will help followed by physiotherapy. Good luck

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
