HBeAb test detects antibody against hepatitis B envelope antigen. HBeAg is an indicator of replication of hepatitis B virus. When the antibody against HBeAg is elevated it implies that the hepatitis virus is not replicating and the infection is under control. However, the levels of antibody against HBeAg is low the virus is still replicating and you are still infective. When the antibody levels rise, this is an indication that virus is not replicating and the viral load is low and thus infectivity is low.
