I had a mammogram last week. The results show a focal asymetical in right breast and I am scheduled for another mammogram on April 5th. My spelling may not be correct, but I am concerned about having to have another mammogram at a different facility where the radiologist may speak to me.
Focal asymmetry means there is an area difference in density between the two breasts with no discrete mass seen. Which in most cases is a normal variant due to difference in glandular elements in both breast. The follow up mammogram is to rule out any tumour. I usually do a correlative USG scan along with the film mammogram to see if any corresponding mass there in the region of asymmetry.
