The interpretation of the
Pap smear is as follows:
Pap test is a screening test done to detect premalignant and malignant lesions of the
cervix.
Your pap test shows presence of squamous
epithelial cells, metaplastic cells and neutrophils.
Squamous epithelial cells are the normal cells of cervix which line the cervix.
Metaplastic cells are the cells present in the transformation zone of cervix.
Neutrophils are acute inflammatory cells of the genital tract.
When present in excess, neutrophils suggest infection.
However, in your case the findings are within normal limit.
There is nothing to worry.
