What Does My Radiology Report Indicate?

I just pick up my mom s radiology report and it says nodular density in the right upper lobe seen on image 77 of series 2 with an SUV of 1.2.This density was not present on previous examination and may be inflammatory in origin. The rest of the lungs show no nodule and the mediastinum is noramal. There is on image 110 series 2 an area of fibrosis in the lingula with SUV of 1.5. What does ot mean?

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest there is a nodular density in the lung right upper lobe which is not seen in the previous study.
2.The possibilities in this case can be infective / inflammatory condition with alveolar opacities in case of acute cause.
3.But since the CT scan was done and proven as a mass lesion and suggested inflammatory condition.
4.In this case a course of antibiotics with a followup scan will be good to rule out mass lesion.
5.If not regressed - further evaluation is required by taking an guided BIOPSY to evaluate the nature of the cells involved.

Good luck.
