Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have just received a copy of results of a scan. Can you put in to plain language the results.L2/3slight narrowing of the disc space. There is a broad annular bulge that is more prominent posterolaterally on the left. This is producing far lateral abutment on the left l2 nerve root. L3/4 there is disc degeneration with end plate irregularity and sclerosis. A broad circumferential annular bulge is present. L4/5Disc degeneration with end plate irregularity with Schmorl s node formation and sclerosis. There is broad circumferential annular bulge that abuts the ventral surface of the right thecal sac. There is foraminal encroachment on the right L4 nerve root. the right sided facet joint is slightly narrowed.
I would explain in brief and in a layman's language. In spine, there are discs between every two vertebrae which provide cushion for flexibility and pressure over the spine. In disc prolapse, the disc shifts out from its place and press the nerve root which emerge out from the spinal cord which is cased inside the spine. The nerve root compression is causing the symptoms which you are facing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
