Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had a sonogram today, according to my last menstrual period I would be 9 weeks and a day. The foetus measured 7 weeks and 5 days and there was no visible heartbeat. Is it possible that this was a mistake or maybe dates had been slightly off? Thanks
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. As per the sonogram report you have enclosed, it appears that the pregnancy is about 2 weeks less, when calculated as per your LMP. Since there is no visible heartbeat, presently the pregnancy is not viable. However, heartbeat could appear and is picked up by ultrasound by 7 to 9 weeks. Kindly get a follow-up scan after a week and check for the improvement in development and appearance of heartbeat. Kindly consult Gynecologist with the report for evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
