What Does My Widal Test Report Indicate?

My mother has been having Fever in the evening at a particular time for past 5 days. Widal test report salomonella typhie o 1:80 and salmonella typhie h 1:40 s para typhie o negative s para typhie h negative. Also the blood report shows a marginal increase in Wbc count. Any cause for concern?

I am pleased to be able to assist you.

Looking at the report, Salm. typhie type o and h are both above the normal titre values and given the fact that your mother is presenting with a fever and elevated wbc, it is very likely that she is having a typhoid fever which will require a course of antibiotics. With most of my patients, when I do not have any other focus of infection, I treat this kind of case as a typhoid fever and for most of my patients, they get a great deal of improvement. The choice drug here is often a quinolone such as ciprofloxacin or norfloxacin. Other antibiotics exist and only your doctor is allowed to write you a specific prescription.
