Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife is seven months pregnant and she is got Widal positive and admitted in a nursing home and discharged after few days. And continued Mahacef Tab. for next 15 days till 17th Aug. 2015. Now again she did the Widal test and found positive. Now she in 8th Month of Pregnancy, what medicine she should take?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Developing typhoid during pregnancy is quite a concern. And getting Widal test positive even after treatment with antibiotics is still more concern. It appears that she needs to get her blood culture and sensitivity done as the antibiotics administered has shown resistance for the drug used. So she has not been cured of the disease completely. With the blood culture report, she needs to visit a Physician, who could help her in administering the appropriate antibiotics. Hope the information provided is clear. Take care and best wishes.
