What Does No Fetal Pole And Cardiac Activity Seen During Pregnancy Mean?

Yesterday I took my wife to doctor for scan. The scan reports show me that No Fatal Pole & cardaalic activity. My wife LMP is Aug 1,2011. As the doctor told me that she got 7 weeks but the baby growth is lees than 5 weeks. Usually my wife mensual cycle will be delay by one week (In may LMP is 19 and June LMP is 23 and she got in AUG 1,2011). Could you please advice how many weeks she completed?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Pregnancy is calculated from the LMP which is Aug 1 as mentioned. There are chances that she may also have had a slight spotting later on and that was not well noticed. If there is difference in age of baby by ultrasound and date then we must wait for another 15 days and repeat the scan. This will further confirm presence of fetal pole and cardiac activity which usually is appreciated by 7 weeks.
