What Does Nodule On Breast In Sonogram Report Indicate?
my momagraphy was normal but my breast sonogram showed a very small nodule according to my ob/gyn very small in size , she assured me nothing to worry about and its benign not cancer but wants me to see a breast surgeon to confirm and not wait the 6 month recommended by the sonogram establishment to repeat at that time . Id like to understand what a nodule is and can it turn cancerous , am I in any danger , do
Breast is made of Milk glands and milk ducts along with the fibrous connective tissue, fatty tissue, nerves, blood vessels and lymph nodes. Breast lumps are common in all age group but all the lumps are not cancerous. Most of the time the lumps are non cancerous raised from the glandular tissue or from the ducts.
Lumps are either cystic with fluid inside it or solid mass. Infection, trauma, fat necrosis, fibroadenoma or fibrocystic lesions. Most of the lumps resolves on its own without any active management. But depends on the cause, the management include antibiotic therapy or surgical removal. Visit the surgeon for further evaluation and management. Fine needle aspiration are one of the investigations to find out the etiology.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
