Hello,
You are having
nosebleeds while straining to pass stools. It commonly occurs when you are straining too hard. Avoid straining too hard as it may cause rupture of the delicate vessels and capillaries in the nasal passage thus causing nosebleed. Stay well hydrated for better and easier bowel movement. You can take fiber rich diet or laxatives if needed.
Pooping itself stimulates the nerves in your nose thus causing them to contract and release mucus or blood. Sometimes nasal polyp can also manifest such symptoms, get clinically examined to rule out nasal polyp and get treated if detected.
Hypertension can also cause nose bleeds at odd times. If hypertensive, control your blood pressure level at all cost.
Allergy or sensitivity to something in your stool can also cause irritation and inflammation in the lining of your nose. Other medical condition that may cause such a symptom is
acute sinusitis,
common cold, nasal sprays, alcohol use, leukemia, etc. Stay away from addictions if any. Get X-ray PNS done to detect sinusitis, deviated
nasal septum, etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
