What Does Numbness In The Right Leg Indicate?

I have had continual numbness in my right leg x4 years, starting about 3 inches above the knee and extending about 2 inches below. Sometimes the numbness extends throughout the entire leg and even on the right side of my genitals, especially when I m standing. The last spinal MRI 2 years ago showed nothing unusual and my new MD suggested it could be something related to my sciatic nerve.

Your pain is definitely related to nerve. The sciatic nerve is getting compressed.The site of compression can be-

-In lumber vertebrae or discs when the sciatic nerve diners leave the spinal canal.
- In the sciatic notch of pelvic bone by a muscle named Pyriformis gets contracted to compress the nerve diners.

*MRI of the spine would expose exact cause followed by specific management plan(hot conpress/anti inflammatory drugs/vitamin B12/local steroids/physiotherapy & surgery in few cases).
