What Does Pain In The Lower Ribs Upon Coughing Indicate?
Coughed really hard, felt a pop in my back on the right side down by my lower ribs, every time I cough or sneeze have a stabbing pain in the same place, about 5 inches to the right of my spine, have had kidney stones, this feels different, wondering if I cracked a rib, or separated cartilage? Thanks for your help,

Hi.
This is a common thing that ribs hurt during hard cough.
all you v need to do is treat the cough, automatically the pain in the ribs wld settle down.
Needs evaluation for cough. If its dry cough r cough with expectoration r association with fever r sore throat. Based on this appropriate treatment must be given for cough.
Once cough settled down, rib pain usually settles down.
If still rib pain is persistent even after cough is settled down, it needs evaluation by ortho doctor.
