What Does Pain On The Left Wrist Indicate?

Two nights back, I experienced a lot of pain in the back of my left hand, above the wrist. It was quite excruciating & I couldn t make a fist without crying with pain. I applied heat, wrapped a bandage & had some extra strength tyelonol. After about 8 hrs the pain did subside. I thought I may have slept the wrong way & perhaps twisted it. Today, the same kind & degree of pain has appeared in my right hand! Kindly advice.
