Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain at the tip of the left big toe and when I lie down flat after a few minutes the toe goes numb and then all the toes and foot and I have pain above my ankle halfway up the lower leg. But when I sit up or get up in the morning all symptoms go away except the pain in the tip of the big toe, that pain intermittent all day.
Your symptoms may be suggestive of the peripheral vascular disease. It implies that your extremities are not getting adequate blood. There are a variety of causes, the most common being atherosclerosis. A majority of the conditions are exacerbated by smoking. So if you smoke, you should cut down.
Besides this, you could visit your clinician to evaluate you for this condition. There are a few medications available to alleviate symptoms of the same as well as surgical options.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
