What Does Persistent Vaginal Bleeding While On Norethisterone Indicate?

Hi, I have been taking 5mg of norethisterone, three times a day for about two weeks now to stop a heavy flow that has been going on for months and while it worked for the first three days the bleeding has come back. It is light but it s still there, what do I need to do?

Hello,

In case of persistent vaginal bleeding means there is a possibility of underlying pathologies like endometriosis or dysfunctional uterine bleeding or fibroids or pelvic inflammatory disease or thyroid problems etc.

So get it done ultrasound abdomen, haemoglobin status, thyroid status then consult your gynaecologist she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
