What Does Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding Indicate?

I ve been havin a period every 8-10 days that last days for the past 3 months , the last 2 seem to be different in color and some clotting . My breast have been so very ssorw at times , I ve had a mammogram recently and although I have lumpy breast nothing was found by doctor . I m 45 years old and have always had a heavy period tha last a full 7 days but never this close together . I haven t been to the gyno in probably 10 years
