What Does Prolonged Periods With Clot Like Discharge While On Birth Control Suggest?
Hey, I m on the shot. And I never get my period while I m on it until the ending of the 3 months where I have to get another shot.. But I m like 2 months into it and I ve had a period for a week already hasn t stopped and just now I felt something come out of me I checked and it was like a piece of skin. It felt like skin, looked like it too. It was like a sack. I read it could come with heavy periods but my period was not heavy. I m worried it could have been a miscarriage? Help me!

Birth control shot contains hormones like progestin, a female natural sex hormone that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses for long periods. Its side effects are changes in the periods like bleeding more days than usual, spotting or breakthrough bleeding between periods, delayed or missed periods, changes in vaginal discharge and cause weird discharge as progestins can cause the vaginal secretions to become thicker, getting clots rarely etc.
If you notice any type of side effects after getting the shot, then you should inform your doctor before getting the next dose. Usually birth control shot is more than 99% effective for preventing pregnancy. But if you have any doubt, then you can undergo urine test for pregnancy 7 days after the next missed period.
