What Does Prolonged Severe Headache Indicate?

Hi . I had a sudden severe headache a couple days ago , went to urgent care and recused two injections , one for the pain one for nausea And was sent home w imitrex The headache had mostly gone away until this afternoon. When almost at point of a sexual orgasm the same severe pain came on instantly and most severely , I cannot figure out why or what

Thank you for your question on HCM! I understand your concern.

Your symptoms may be related to different disorders:
1- migraine , which can be triggered by different food and activities. The fact that imitrex has helped you is in favor of this diagnosis.

2. A post orgasmic headache. This would only explain the second episode of headache.

3.Uncontrolled blood pressure. I would like to know if you measured your blood pressure during these episodes.

4. An inflammation like a temporal arteritis.

I would recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure, perform a routine blood test for anemia or inflammation.

A brain CT scan would be necessary to exclude a possible intracranial lesion, which can increase the intracranial pressure.
