What Does " Scattered Densities" Mean In A Mammogram?

Hi - I've been asked to have a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound of my right breast as my regular mammogram showed scattered densities. I also have pain in my right shoulder (6 months now) - I thought it was due to ergo reasons but now I'm more worried. Should I be worried and what is the chance that this is cancer? Thanks.

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

Scattered density may indicate fat deposits. Fibroadenosis has to be ruled out by doing an ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy S. Bhattacharjee, OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
