hello dr,my mother under went transspenoidal surgery for macroadenoma of pitutary 2 mnth back she complained of headache from past 1.5 month,we took ct scan it showed calcified hematoma of frontal and parital lobe,and recurrence,pls tel me is that a serous problem
A calcified hematoma is an area which bled earlier during or after the surgery and presently shows calcium deposition. It is not a serious finding by itself. Should it cause any pressure effects on important brain structures and cause symptoms then a discussion with a neurosurgeon is suggested.
