Mri report I recieved today says "Impression: theres is mild disc degeneration at teh L5-S1 level. there is a small central to left paracentral disc protrution with mild extrinsic compression upon the thecal sac near the origina of the left SI nerve root" What does this mean....will if give me the answers to my pain?
There is degeneration of lumbar spine disc between L5 and S1. This is resulting in the disc protrusion between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level on the left side. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable.
