What Does "small Areas Noted Inconclusive For Malignancy" Mean?
I am undergoing an intrajugular hepatic biopsy next week. Have had CT with and without contrast and MRI of abdomen, diagnosis of chronic liver cirrhosis made, small areas noted on MRI inconclusive for malignancy - what are the chances that these will test positive? No alcohol or medication induced.
Small areas are present in the liver, apart from cirrhotic changes. These small areas are not showing definitive changes that are seen in a malignancy. You might be having non alcoholic cirrhosis of liver. Without knowing details about size, distribution and contrast enhancement characteristics it is difficult to tell about the malignant possibility, but the MRI does not pin point to a malignancy.
