What Does Severe Headache While Suffering From Spina Bifida Indicate?
I have spina bifida I have a shunt. About 2 weeks ago I fell in the bathroom and hit my head really hard. Hard enough to put a small hole in the wall. I had a concussion and had really severe pain in my head for a couple of days. Yesterday I woke up during the night and started coughing hard. A massive gush of clear fluid came out of my nose. It happened again a couple of times today one time so much came out it went a little in my mouth and was very salty. Should I be concerned that it is a CSF leak
Spina Bifida is a congenital defect, it is caused when tail bone is divided into two parts; it is not linked to headache. It is not like that by testing you doubt CSF leak aspiration of spinal fluid or CSF cannot be confirmed by testing it is also not linked to concussion which is just brain shaking. It is differentiated from head injury by examining pupil size and reaction to light. There can be nausea and vomiting. If CSF is leaking, it will reduce CSF pressure and there will be other sign and symptom by testing it can be confirmed CSF.
Take Care
