My father (56) has had fever for a few weeks. He saw 3 different doctors, had his tests done, including chest X-ray, and CT of all other organs. All the tests were fine. The only thing they found is some sort of shadow on his lung. Doctors thought it was pneumonia or some scare from the past. His family doctor just wanted him to take CT lung scan.
He is a non-smoker, healthy male. Is there a possibility that shadow is something else different from God forbid cancer?
1.Fever for few weeks and shadowing in the lung - most possible cause could be pneumonia ( will be seen as a patch, shadow ). 2.Seeing a scar tissue on the x-ray means old treated infection, after treatment a scar is left as a trace of infection. 3.Some times it not always possible to evaluate all structures - as there will be multiple structures and overlapping will be there - in case of suspicion computer tomography CT will help ( there is no over lapping and shadowing seen in the CT - every thing will be seen ) 4.HRCT - high resolution computer tomography will help in detection even small pathologies. 5.I feel like symptoms seems like pneumonia - but finally CT can help in definitive cause.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
