What Does Sharp Pain In The Left Shoulder Blade And Chest Indicate?

Hi, I m a 52 year old female, type 1 diabetic, woke up this morning at 3 a.m. with sharp pains behind my left shoulder blade and left side chest. The sharpness lasted for at least a full minute then slowly started to subside, which was about an hour. Still have slight numbness in my left arm. Due to having an oral surgery, I had stopped taking my aspirin for a week because I consider myself a free bleeder when on it. I recently started on celebrex 100mg due to the oral surgery. I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation to the left aorta when I was 28.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms could be the result of an Anginal attack, So it's very important for you to go to the nearest medical center for clinical assessment, routine laboratory tests, and other investigations:

1- ECG of the heart.
2- Echocardiography.
3- Cardiac enzyme.
4- Chest X-ray.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
